Welcome to Our Club!
The club was founded on 10th March 2003 and is a non-profit making organization which promotes the interests of horse owners and riders in the Pole Moor area. PMRC is a non-affiliated club.
Since the club began we have held a variety of events ranging from our very successful first annual show (held at Carr House Farm, Scammonden), children's events, social rides, lectures, treasure hunts and social events such as a fun swim and a trip to the dogs.
Pole Moor Riding Club aims to:
- Bring together local horsey people, enabling us to help each other with any problems and provide a friendly environment, as well as giving us more power in the on-going battle for bridleway access.
- Provide basic training in horse care and road safety.
- Encourage all horsey people to get the best from their horses by holding a wide variety of events.
The club holds a meeting at 8pm on the first Tuesday of each month at The Rose & Crown, Cop Hill, Slaithwaite. Everyone is welcome to attend. You can also contact us by
email.
Supported Charities
The club also supports various charities through fundraising events. The club is currently supporting:
The Laura Crane Trust
Cancer is the most common form of non-accidental death in teenagers and young adults in the UK. The Laura Crane Trust funds research specifically into cancers affecting this age group. They also fund measures to improve the lives of the young cancer patients while they are undergoing treatment and in the aftermath of their illness.
The Brooke
The Brooke is the UK's leading overseas equine welfare charity and their aim is to improve the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world. These animals form the backbone of the economy in many developing countries, supporting countless poor communities where many people earn less than a dollar a day.
The Brooke's mobile vet teams and community animal health workers, and partner organisations worldwide, provide free treatment to animals and train animal owners, local healers, farriers, saddlers, feed sellers, harness and cart makers. They currently operate across nine countries in Asia, Africa, Central America and the Middle East.
